About

Sarah Tucker

A hit-and-run motorist ignored a red light early Thursday and killed a 26-year-old bicyclist, SARAH TUCKER, AKA TUCKER.

The accident happened at 2 a.m. at Polk and Geary streets, said Inspector Pat Tobin of the hit-and-run detail. The cyclist, Sarah Tucker of San Francisco, died at 9:46 a.m. at San Francisco General Hospital, authorities said.

Police said the motorist, a man driving a black Honda CR-V, was going west on Geary and ran the light. Tucker, was returning home from a dance party, Tango, Tango, and riding south on Polk, ran into the Honda in the middle of the intersection.

Tobin said witnesses heard TUCKER shout loudly "Hey!'' just before the accident. Witnesses said the Honda was left with a large scrape on the passenger door and a missing side mirror.

Witnesses said the driver, who they described as African-American, then turned off the lights of his car to hinder reading his license plate before driving away.

He said auto repair shops, insurance companies and auto parts yards should be on the lookout for the Black Honda CR-V. Anyone with information is asked to call police at (415) 553-1641 or an anonymous tip line, (415) 575-4444.

Tucker grew up in Los Gatos and has just turned 26 on Dec. 26. She worked in fundraising for the California Academy of Science, studied film at CCSF at night and was the organizer of a monthly lesbian dance party called Pretty Young Thing (PYT).

My Memory

Danielle Lindberg Jan 26, 2009

Me and Sarah went to highschool together and even at that time, she was outspoken, independant, artistic and very smart; I remember thinking how much smarter she was then me. We swam in her backyard pool during the summer, drove the big, tan station wagon around and visited local music and art shows. Sarah, was a wonderful person and her life example should be followed.

Here is one

Sarah and I thought we were invincible. At her family home they had a pool. We would swim for hours. When it was time to be done we would put the cover on and swim underneath from one end to another. She had the coolest pantry ever! We would drink Treetop Apple Juice out of the little cans until our tummies hurt. She created a city for me in the Sim City games when they first came out. She was my Best Buddy. She was my saving grace.
