Alex died tragically in a dirt bike accident . He and two friends headed into a wooded area to do some riding. Alex lost control of the off-road motorcycle that he was driving and struck a tree. He wasn't wearing a helmet at the time.
This had been a particularly happy day for him as he had just gotten a new electric guitar. He was a talented musician.
He'll be missed by his family and friends.

ALEXANDER JOHN SCHMIDT "ALEX" 1992 - 2007 Suddenly, as a result of an accident, on Saturday September 8, 2007, at the age of 15 years. Much loved son of Suzanna Walter and Michael Schmidt. Loving brother of Jordan. Beloved grandson of Teresa (the late John) Schmidt, Elizabeth (the late Dr. John) Walter, and friend Sherman Bleakney. Nephew of J. Stephen Schmidt, Christine Schmidt, Dr. Anthony Walter and fiancee Bernita Kiefte, and Beverlee Schmidt. First cousin of John John Schmidt. Alex will also be sadly missed by his many other aunts, uncles, and cousins. Friends are invited to share their memories of Alex with his family during a service of remembrance at St. John's Lutheran Church, 22 Willow Street, Waterloo on Friday, September 14, 2007 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Richard Burgess officiating. At the family's request, cremation has taken place.
