Scott Kalitta was a good man, a good family man and one awsome dirver. our hearts go out to the Kalitta family and crew. He died doing what he loved to do and that is the only way. Scott we all love, YOU THE MAN. My daughter for the first time was able to meet him Saturday 21, 2008 Right before he went on. She will neaver forget that moment when he smiled and ask her her name and sighned a paper for her..
We had never had the pleasure of meeting Scott. Our family went to Bristol and we truly enjoyed watching every minute of the qualifications. You can feel all around while that you are there, that everyone is truly one big family. Our condolences go out to Scotts father, Connie, his wife and children, and family, and to his extended NHRA family. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you and especially Scott. God Bless

SCOTT KALITTA WAS A TRUE DRAG RACER. HE CAME FROM ONE OF THE BEST, CONNIE KALITTA. ONE OF MY FAVORITE MEMORIES WAS AT A RACE IN BRISTOL IN 2007. AFTER THE RACE ON SUNDAY CONNIE WAS SITTING AT THE TRAILER IN THE HOSPITALITY TENT. I ASKED HIM IF I COULD GET MY PICTURE TAKEN WITH HIM FOR MY SCRAPBOOK AND HE WAS SO NICE AND PLEASANT. SCOTT WAS THE SAME WAY, HE NEVER DENIED A FAN AN AUTOGRAPH OR A PHOTOGRAPH IF TIME AND RACING ALLOWED HIM. IN MY HEART THAT CAMP ARE TRUE CHAMPIONS EACH AND EVERY YEAR AND I AM SURE THEY WILL CONTINUE TO BE. THE DRAG RACING FAMILY HAS LOST A VALUABLE MEMBER BUT THIS WILL ONLY MAKE THEM CLOSER AND STRONGER AS WELL AS THE FAMILY OF FANS THAT FOLLOW THEM EACH AND EVERY WEEKEND.
What a sad day for drag racing, Racing will never be the same. May his death not be in vain. I hope the track can somehow get more attention for stopping distance. get rid of the walls, maybe put nets or something else. May the Lord comfort your family. R I P Scott.
I think it is time that we go to a 1000 foot track now, with the speeds these cars are now going. It would not cost tracks that much for the change and I think the fans will still love drag racing.
May God be with your family.
I remember my contact with Connie in the 60s when I was running a funny car and connie was always a help to me I always admired him and have many great memories. Althought I never knew Scott I offer my sincere condolences to his family and especially to Connie Thanks Jim Barillaro
I have been a drag racer on and off for 30 years so losing a member of the community like this really hits home. My deepest sympathies to the family as this is so tragic for them especially for Connie, Scott;s wife and his children. You just can't replace a son, husband and father like you can a set of pistons. I met Scott on several occassions and he appeared to be a great guy, quite but very funny. He was a fierce cometitor and a real drag racer that most people admired.
This tragedy shouldn't have happened. We have the capablity and technology of having safer race tracks and safer race cars. When are those empowered going to get off of their duffs and create a more safe environment for our Pro drivers? We just can't continue to loose one a year like this. If 1/4 mile racing is here to stay the tracks need to be updated otherwise there is nothing wrong with 1000' or 1/8th mile racing.
