A Voice to Remember!

The young Christchurch opera singer who sustained serious brain injuries after being hit by a car in Sydney last week has died.

Seamus Casey, 27, had been on life support in Sydney's Royal Prince Alfred Hospital since the accident last Tuesday.

He last performed in Christchurch in February 2006, when he was raising money for a 12 month stint with the Australian Opera Studio in Perth. Earlier he was selected to join the Dame Malvina Major Emerging Artists programme in 2002 and was named as vocal award winner in Christchurch's 2000 Young Performer of the Year.

I can remember the first time I heard Seamus sung! I was the year below him at Cobham Intermediate and he sung in assembley. He was already a huge talent then. He was a great singer. I loved listeing to his deep voice in the barbershop quartet. My heart goes out to all his cloe friends and family. What a waste to have gone so early.

RIP Seamus, you always had a smile on your face!
