I have to be honest, I never heard of Mr. Shakir Stewart until Nov 2, 2008. It wasn't until this tragedy occurred that most of the world learned of this young, ambitious, driven, intelligent brother. The barrage of news reports left me wanting to know as much as I could about this young man. I have read some of the kindest words about Mr. Stewart and how inspiring he was to those around him, which makes it very sad for his short life to end this way. From everything I've read, he was a genuinely good and respectable guy. I send prayers for all who loved Shakir and seek strength and closure. May God bring peace to his family and friends.
To the family of Shakir
May you find strength and peace during this time and always. Shakir and our son attended St. Mary's in Berkeley, California, and graduated together. Our son spoke so highly of Shakir, his drive, his intelligence, his respect for others, his determination. We knew, even as the boys were becoming men, that Shakir would be a fine man, good father and devoted husband.
Our sincere condolences to Kenneth, Porsche and Deborah.
Ricci and Karen Jones.
I also agree with Betty. This is our opportunity to express our deepest sympathy and
saddness to the family. It is not a time to discuss or display negative attitudes. This is a time for understanding and healing as we will never know the pain an individual goes through. We all hope that he is in a "better place", however it is not up to us to determine. It is up to our creator. At this time I send my sympathy to the family, and I too hope that he is in a better place.
Hey Shakir I am so blown ....Dude! like you would call and tell me every time you got ready to sign a new artist how good they were just to hear the thrill in your voice, man I'm gonna miss that! I will forever miss YOU and all the fun we've had over the years. I cant explain the empty space in my heart right now .I pray for you and mostly for your son and daughter that God will bless them with your outgoing and determined ways to WIN and that they understand the importance of balance in life.......Peace be with you my 1 Hommie
Peace and Love to Your Family and Friends. You are a Rare Breed.....One in Million. May we all Love each other more, and be that helping hand or ear that we all need. I regret that I am unable the be at your Farewell Party. Please know that you and your family will always be in my heart and prayers Daily. Shake and Bake, LOVE YOU MAN! You can never be forgotten. Nik...... I will cherish our Friendship always.
its funny how you can meet a person and get inspired, in a positive way and immediately start materializing Big plans. Well thats what Shakir did for me and i must say only someone Devine and Positive can do such. I meet shakir informally matter a fact i just spoke with him the afternoon of J.Dupri's all white affair at a tailor we both shared and Congratulated him on the new Position and let him know that i was proud of him and looked forward to doing some work with him, he looked baffled by being told this by a stranger nevertheless he was very cordial and we spoke for a few minutes not knowing we shared allot of the same acquaintances, all i have to say is Shakir you was a Positive shining Beacon and a good example of a successful Black Man, something our youth need so desperately to see more of ....Peace and love to your Family my Brother wish you were still here.
