Sherri Wood Tribute

i had went to jr. college with sherri in fresno, ca. years ago. i moved to san francisco and lost contact with her. i hadn't heard from her for almost 2 decades but she had been on my mind for the past few years... when i thought/think of her, i remember her radiant smile and cheery laugh that was infectious ; she always made my heart feel full of her joy!
i'm sorry that i never reconnected with her... i tried for years but came up short!

What did she want to be? Exactly what she was: A passionate, caring, loving and vibrant woman! She was adventurous, curious, and inquisitive, always enjoying the moment and appreciating her ability to connect deeply with others. From her early years in high school, her writing flourished and her passion for words authentically pushed her along her destined path to become a writer. She always wanted to be a writer...and she had the strength, passion ambition and superior skills to make that happen. I can remember the long talks of starting up a magazine and concocting topics for books. Sherri's ideas were endless, and she had a keen sense of just how to communicate what she meant and felt. Her natural flair, unique fashion sense, and beauty demanded attention! On the music scene, Sher was an expert...finding the most talented and interesting bands, she had a knack for expressing in words the 'sound' she experienced. I'll never forget her expression (and shock) when she was recognized one night walking toward the dance floor. "Sherri, Sherri Wood" he asked shyly. Sherri was contemplating how she may have crossed paths with this stranger...but he interrupted, "I read your article every week, and I think you are an amazing writer"! As we giggled together Sherri questioned, "did that really just happen"?? From then on, the praise would continue! She new that she wanted to be a journalist. She enjoyed interviewing, always asking the appropriate questions at the right time, to dig deep and find meaning. Sherri made quite the impression on Chris Martin. Yes, she interviewed Coldplay. And the moment came when he told her his impression of her. The unforgettable phrase describing SHERRI WOOD was coined: "YOU are cooler than F%&!". And I agree. Sher was very cool when she grew up.

Just the thought of you being no longer with us aches my heart. You were one brave soul, girl you will never be forgotten.
