Memories of Steven Trent Selden

My Memory

sherikcarriage Sep 30, 2008

I remember the many times Trent visited our home in Miami when I was a child. He was my 'big brother', Dave's good friend. A specific memory was when he and Dave created rubber band guns and took over our house keeping me and my friend, Mary outside. It was all in good fun, and Mary and I finally used garbage can lids as shields to gain access inside, and the game was over.
Trent visited my family many years later in the Seattle area. We went to Mt. Rainier on an absolutely beautiful day. I remember how the mountain awed Trent, especially because he had grown up in the very flat Florida.
All his life Trent retained a child-like honesty that was one of his most endearing traits from the time he was a teen. It was tough to know he was fighting such an intense disease. He was such a strong young man. But even though his body's strength was attacked, his character and loving heart stayed strong. He lived many years with pride and joy in his beloved wife and two boys.

"Trent" as he would rather be called was the One soul to reach out and get me to recieve all my med. care @ the Miami VAMC (hospital) he did this by being very determined that as a fellow "comrade in arms" I should go to the VA Hospital and request to be seen by his neurologist at the time (Dr.Micheline McCarthy). I have done nothing to regress the course of my disease , yet am fully aware of what may be just round the bend. Not only did Trent help me dealing with my MS , I had just recently been dx. when I met him and his WONDERFUL Family. For this I remain eternally grateful to them. I too miss Trent tremendously.

The first time I met Trent I knew then that I was going to marry him...He was tall and very handsome.....It was almost like love at first sight...then from then on we kept in touch and dated and got engaged and married....he was a great husband. We had some very good time together and we had two great boys together....they are our passions in life. Trent was a great man, father and son, and best friend. He loved everyone and wanted to be loved back. He was honest and true. I will miss him dearly. Love his wife forever thru out eternity .
