About
Patrick
U.S. movie actor Patrick Swayze, star of box-office hits such as "Dirty Dancing" and "Ghost," has died of pancreatic cancer at age 57.
Swayze's publicist announced his death Monday, saying the actor "passed away peacefully... with family at his side."
Swayze first found fame in the early 1980s in the adaptation of a teen novel, S.E. Hinton's The Outsiders. A trained dancer, Swayze became a cinema heartthrob and Golden Globe award nominee with 1987's Dirty Dancing and reached the height of his fame and acclaim three years later in the romantic film Ghost.
He worked steadily in films over the next two decades, transitioning into smaller character roles.
Swayze first announced his illness in March 2008. Pancreatic cancer is a particularly deadly form of cancer; fewer than five percent of people diagnosed with it survive five years.
Swayze worked long after his diagnosis, starring in a television program called The Beast that ran for one season in 2008 and 2009.

May you rest in peace forever

my own battle with cancer
kim elizabeth king Mar 28, 2010
were the worst and then to be told the cancer had probably spread.
i went back to work spring of last year as a run a business. then I had to
have time off again last month to wait to be told if I had cancer again.
But I didn'. In September I am getting married. When I found out Patrick had
cancer and then died I was recovering from extensive burns. Is it only me
or did any other people look at Patrick and see what I saw. I man with the
face of an Angel. It is not often I look at successful people and think that.
His face was beautiful and open, like a Water Lily in full bloom. I know in
my heart he was someone special and not just because he was famous.
As I believe in the after life, I know that when the time is right Patrick will
have important work to carry out in the spirit world. I hope there is someone
out there who feels the same way as I do and can relate to what I have
written.
