Thomas Alva Edison was an American inventor and businessman. He is famous for inventing several devices including the phonograph, the motion picture camera, and the well-known, long lasting, practical electric lightbulb. Edison holds 1,093 US patents and many more around the world, making him the fouth most profilic inventor in history. Thomas Edison died of complications of diabetes on October 18, 1931.
