I was very close friends with Walter from 2nd grade until sometime in High School. Early on in our friendship, I remember his Mom, (in a Plymouth Duster), and my Mom taking turns taking us from swimming lessons at Marjorie Post. We very good friends for quite a long time. I had no prior knowledge of his accident and hadn't seen or heard anything about Walter since High School days.
Early this Summer, out of nowhere I had a dream that there was an accident Walter died. The dream was really bugging me so I thought I'd look up his name on Google and see if there was any information on my old buddy. It was then that I found out he was killed in the accident about a month before. When I read about his accident, it hit me pretty hard. I had always hoped to bump into Walter again and now know this will never happen. I read about his family, and how tragic this is. As if that dream out of nowhere was not enough I read his wifes name was Jennifer and he had a boy 7 and a girl 5. His family mirrored mine. My wifes name is Jennifer and my boy is 7 and my girl is 5. It really makes you think about things. I am glad to see these postings in his memory, and I hope his family can stay strong.
