About

Biography

Bob Denver was an actor best known for his role of Gilligan on the iconic television show Gilligan’s Island.  He was born in New York State, his family moved to Texas, and he eventually attended Loyola University.  He developed a reputation for being a gracious actor.  He starred in “The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis”, in the late 1950’s and then in “Gilligan’s Island”.  His later television appearances featured him as virtually the same character.  Later in life he and his wife operated a small radio station.  He had a run in with police in the late 1990’s when a parcel of marijuana was delivered to his home.  He served six months probation.

In 2005 he underwent bypass surgery and was subsequently diagnosed with throat cancer.  He died of complications resulting from throat surgery.

Chloe's Memory

Chloe Apr 28, 2011

I was not even alive when he was on GI. He passed away when i was five years old. I remeber sitting on a kick bord in the waves with my daddy. He told me about Bob Denver and the cast members and of course GI. I was so fastinated I ran away from my father and out of the lake. I ran across the grass land too my summer home. I gallobed up the stairs and into my bedroom were my laptop lay on the bed. I took a blanket and laid it on the bed so my wetness and sand wouldn't ruin it. I looked up GI and watched an episode, then another, then another one, and another until there was NO EPISODES LEFT. I felt so bad I haden't shared the laughs with my cosuins who were just down stairs I raced them up for them to watch. We did and we laughed and laughed...I amk a 10 year old who fell in love with GI and Bob Denver. I still watch GI AND i aways will i will show my kids too. PEACE OUT HOME DAWGS!
