About

Felix

Felix's life was only beginning...

In May 2009 Felix graduated from Oak Forest High School and was preparing to attend a local college in September. Felix was a well-liked student with an understanding of the value of hard work and setting goals.

In the spring of 2008, Felix was nominated to attend the National Youth Leadership Forum on National Security "Exploring American Diplomacy, Intelligence and Defense" to be held in Washington, D.C. An excerpt of the letter sent to Felix's parents about this honor:

"We first became aware of Felix through the National Research Center for College and University Admissions' Talent Identification Program ... Felix meets the high standards we set to qualify as a nominee, please accept my personal congratulations. Felix's nomination to represent his school and community at the Forum on National Security places him among a very select group of the nation's top students. Fewer than 1 percent of all high-achieving high school students are presented with this opportunity...as a former Assistant to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Superintendent of the United States Military Academy at West Point, I am convinced of the value and importance of this forum for students with special talent and ability ..."
Sincerely,
Daniel W. Christman
Lieutenant General
U.S. Army (Ret.)
Senior Councilor to the
National Youth Leadership Forum

My memory of Felix

Felicia DePyper Jul 09, 2010

Wow! Where do I begin. When our Daughter, Dezi brought Felix to our home in the fall of his freshman year at Oak Forest High School, I instantly liked him. He was respectful, friendly, and funny. Over the next 4 1/2 years Felix spent many days/evenings at our home. We included Felix to our family outing etc. He become part of our Family, His was loyal like a brother to Dezi and Demi and like a Son to us. My fondest memory of Felix is when He & Dezi spent most of the night watching movies. I woke in the morning and he was sleeping on the couch I gave him a pillow because he didn't look comfortable. He looked up and said Thanks Ma. I said your welcome baby boy. I later asked him if he was hungery? he said yes a little. I asked if he want breakfast, he said sure. I made us Chorizo, eggs and tortillas. We sat ate our breakfast and talked, until Dezi came down the stairs and yelled at both of us saying " Gee, THANKS FOR NOT WAKING ME UP FOR BREAKFAST. Felix and I both looked at each other and Laughed... That was the begainning of our bond... I love that boy like my own... I will forever miss him. Felix you will live in my heart always & forever...

I remember......me, you, and danny....always making fun of each other and all the times in wrestling we all shared....when you took me out and killed my season...you apologized so much but it made me stronger.....i remember when i first met you....we were freshmen in hs and you were sat next to me in computer class with Mrs. McSweeney......we just hit it off from there and i remember that even when my hair was rediculously long you never made fun of me.....even when i looked as rediculous as i did you were always my friend...my brother.....I love you man....and you will always be in my heart....
