My long itme high school buddy's mom recently died and he's been going through a lot of heck trying to figure out what he should do to prepare for her funeral. How do you pick a funeral home? what kind of things do you spend money on? How do you choose a plot? I know nothing about it but I saw there was a group here and figured I'd ask for my friend.
by looking at the date of this post, you have already figured out a few things, but let me share,
a funeral home is only as good as its repuation, so ask around...
check on the prices of different funeral home....they are all different. and each state have a governing body which check on the funeral homes. and you can call them as well, just to see it the one you have chosen is okay.(funeral service commision). also go into the funeral home, get a feel of the place, ask to look around, a tour if you will. in all funeral homes, you hire them to do a service for you....find out who they are.
where i am a funeral director, most families come to me because this firm has taken care of their family 5 to 6 generations back...and they trust us...we are family owned, not corp. so we answer to the commision and us. and our monies stay here, not to some corp. head office, - making our overhead cost lower.
good luck, and just joining i didnt get to you earlier....sorry.
