So, today would have been Julie's 34th Birthday. I've spent a lot of time thinking about her legacy to us. Lots of pain, during these 17 days of darkness and coldness, that vacant spot between Thanksgiving and her birthday. She shares her birthday with Beethoven, and Jane Austen. I know her parents probably have a hard time during this time of year, and I wish for the survivors to recollect memories of joy and not to languish on the pain.
This year we adopted a young Siamese cat on December 2nd, and these new beginnings help one get on through the darkness.
I wish I had taken photos or video of Julie while she was here. All I have is this brief clip of Liberty Farm of the Puppies born in the spring of 2003. The puppies are so completely fresh and non-depressing that I will post the video here. Julie came out to the farm one afternoon with her violin and we used it to mimic the cries of the Puppies while they were still crated. At the end of this video, that's Julie, that's her laugh.
...except that respectance has a really lousy video support, and I had to settle for a mere ten seconds (very few puppies), which are still tediously slow to load... --ash
