About

The Jim Corbett Foundation

Colonel Jim Corbett was born in Naini Tal, India on 25 July 1875 and became an expert naturalist, tracker and hunter of man eating tigers and leopards that were common in the Kumaon-Himalayan jungles. He was a great humanitarian throughout his life, giving himself freely to the happiness of the poor. The aim of the Foundation is to gather all friends, relatives and fans of Jim Corbett under one roof. Corbett is the author of 6 wonderful books:
Man eaters of Kumaon (1944)
Man eating Leopard of Rudraprayag (1948)
My India (1952)
Jungle Lore (1953)
Temple Tiger & More Man eaters (1954)
Tree Tops (1955).

There are 3 biographies published about Jim Corbett

Jim Corbett of Kumaon by D.C. Kala (1976)
Carpet Sahib by Martin Booth (1984) and
Under the Shadow of Man eaters by Jerry A. Jaleel F.R.G.S. (1997)

The Jim Corbett Foundation was established in 1994 as a non profit organization with members worldwide. Its offices are located at 1306- 39 Street, Edmonton, Alberta, T6L 2M7, Canada. Annual membership to the Foundation is $25. Members receive the Foundation Newsletter TIGER-TRAILS 4 times a year. Our future plans include building a Museum to display the Corbett memorabilia  and a reading room. We are also interested in making a first class  film on Corbett based on the book UNDER THE SHADOW OF MAN EATERS, published by the Jim Corbett Foundation in 1997. Other items published by the Foundation are:
BEST OF TIGER-TRAILS (Articles selected from Tiger Trails 1994-2004) and ON THE TRAIL OF JIM CORBETT (video) featuring travels in Kumaon including the Corbett national Park and his final home in Nyeri, Kenya, restoring his grave and scenes from the Tree Tops. The video and the book Best of Tiger Trails are now SOLD OUT! Under the Shadow of Man eaters - the original signed edition is available @ $25 each + postage.
