It's so sad to lose someone who actually contributed to the music culture in a dignified and skillfull manner; this is the legacy he will leave behind. To overcome adversity- even to go so far as to use it in a positive way- and to be successful on one's own terms instead of sucumbing to music media crap- it's truly an achievement to be proud of. Jeff's music will be missed, that's a given, but it's his 'attitude' that will leave the music world sorely lacking....his life may have been short, but I'm sure it was stuffed with great experiences...RIP Jeff.
One of the worlds truly talented artists has been taken from us far too early, witha totaly unique way of playing guitar and a voice that could move from the smooth velvet of "Angel Eyes" to the gritty cigar smoke and whiskey of "highway 49", the only person who could have done such amazing versions of "While my guitar gently weeps" and "Hoochie coochie man". A sad sad loss, and heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.God blessed us with his talent may he bless you now in your loss.
I met and worked with Jeff in the 80's in Halifax. We were all blown away by his amazing talent and what a nice guy he was. His talent and love of music, all music, was infectious. My condolences go out to his family. You will be missed.

I am saddened by the loss of such a great legend. I own everything he has ever made.I even got a chance to see him once in concert in New Jersey(Stone Poney in Asbury Park). I send the most sincere wishes to his family, knowing that he will be greatly missed. How lucky they were to have had him in their life......

On behalf of the National Office of the Canadian Council of the Blind, I want to give my most sincere condolences to the family of Mr. Jeff Healey.
Jeff was not only a great singer, but also a great person. I was writing a biography of him for a compilation of short biographies of blind people who refused to beconsidered invalid, and he not only accepted to be part of it; he also called me twice to suggest corrections to the text. Not everyone still in the limelight would do that.
So good-bye, sweet angel.
Jeff, your wonderful commentary on the roots of Jazz will be deeply missed. Your passion was unmistakable.
The impact you had on anyone who had the good fortune of listening to your radio show and was profound and an afternoon with the Jazz Wizards was nothing short of sheer delight.I defy anyone to not tap your toes while listening to this remarkable band!
