  • In a Web-based world where Myspace, YouTube, Facebook, and Friendster reign king, it was only a matter of time until a Web site surfaced and fit in where these social networking sites are lacking. In actuality, Respectance.com is not that different from these other popular sites, except for one minor detail—it’s filled with deceased people’s profiles instead of the living’s. Though the topic matter may seem morbid, Respectance fits in smoothly as another necessary, albeit macabre, part of the user generated Web. (more)

  • You'd think a social network for the dead wouldn't be all that lively, Respectance ushers the traditional obit into the digital world. The site is sort of like a MySpace for the deceased — anyone can create a page for their loved ones that can include photos and videos. Visitor can contribute to the obit or leave a memory of the person. (more)

  • Zelf denk ik dat er niet veel veranderd is in Nederland. Emoties willen delen is niet iets van alleen deze tijd. Ook vroeger, als er iemand dood ging die in heel Nederland bekend was door zijn werk werd er gerouwd door veel mensen of op de een of andere manier gepraat over de overledene. Maar toen werd het op een andere manier geuit. Er werd over gesproken in de kroeg, bij de sigarenboer, op verjaardagen en op straat. (more)
