About

SGT. Mathes, a True Hero

Sgt. Marcus Mathes was killed in action on April 28, 2008.  He was 26 at the time. He leaves behind his wife of 6 years, Jules, who is dealing remarkably with this situation.  Marcus was a wonderful husband and son. He was also a proud uncle of his neice and nephew, Elyse and Kayne.  We will all miss Marcus, and welcome encouraging words and your memories of him.  Please feel free to upload any pictures that you have of him.

We love and miss you, Marcus, and can't imagine our lives without you.

Never Forgotten & Always Loved

David Metheny Mar 16, 2010

Time may slip by us day by day but you are not forgotten cus. Today your memory stands forever in Dade City as a reminder to all what a great person you are and the sacrifice you made for us all. I can remember you, Kyle, and Josh helping Zack open his first birthday presents like it was yesterday. No memory stands more clear than that big boyish grin when I gave you a ride on Dad's tractor though. Never afraid to try something new. You would have loved your granddad as he never missed a chance to scare the wits outta me as a boy. What an awesome man he was. But you know that now as he's probably making up for lost time sharing those things with you now. You are among some great company of Dads & Granddads now. Enjoy their love as we did.
You are loved, missed, and never forgotten Marcus.

Everyone's HERO

Katie Schuldt May 26, 2008

Had to pick the shooting Star for Jules.
I know Jules through penpaling. We started writing in 2003. I do have a memory of Marcus (many through her letters). I talked to Jules on the phone a few times and one of those times I got to talk to Marcus. He seemed like such a nice person. I'm so glad he had Jules all these years to share his life with. They are simply perfect together, no other way to put it. I wanted to THANK him for all he did for my freedom. God Bless him! And his FAMILY!
