Q. What did Marcus Mathes dream of doing with his/her life?
Q. If Marcus Mathes could have any job, what do you think he/she could have done?
Q. What do you think would have been a good/alternative job for Marcus Mathes?
A. Nothing else would have made him happy. I begged him years ago not to enlist as my own son's unit had been called up to be deployed and the fear of what was about to happen to our men and women, sons and daughters, had already set in. Marcus stood there, however, and gave me all the reasons of why he wanted to join, and despite the fears your felt, you knew he had thought long and hard and the results were for love of family and country. Only after his thirst to serve his country and to give his family a good start would anything matter to him. I love and miss you cousin, may God be with your family in this time of need. Rest well, your work is done. Thank you for your sacrifice, love of family, and memories you have left us all. We love you

A. Marcus was raised in a Christian home and was active in our church growing up. When Marcus went to boot camp he was so excited to tell me he'd found a Bible and was reading it every day. It was at this time that his walk with the Lord become so very strong. I believe that Marcus was put on this earth to do just exactly what he was doing. He became even more alive once he started his adult walk with the Lord. When you have accomplished your mission for God where do you go? You are rewarded with a trip to Heaven where you spend eternity! See you there, son. I love you.
