About
Our Son Shaun
Shaun was such a Special Young Man. He was loved dearly by his parents Karen & Chris. He has a Sister Claire and Brother in law Paul and their two children Shaun’s Niece Ellie and Nephew Rhys whom he absolutely doted on.
Shaun was born on 9th April 1982. Shaun was 8 years Old before he was diagnosed with having Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
From being a very young child He was so loving & thoughtful. He was lovely natured and always cheerful.
Even though He had so much to contend with throughout his life He never ever let things get him down. Shaun has had a lot of health issues to deal with over the years.
He had a long spell in Scarborough Hospital after breaking his leg whilst on holiday in Spain. He had an operation in Spanish hospital to insert pins into his leg. But despite all this he said it was the most exciting holiday ever!!!
Shaun had spinal fusion which was a major operation to correct his spine and it took a great deal of courage to recover from this. The benefits He got from the operation far outweighed the Pain that he endured.
He had a very Cheeky Character and I’m sure anyone who knew him would have a funny tale to tell you.
He has encountered some fantastic people over the years. He has a great family & many close friends and colleagues.
The past six years have really been the happiest time of his life since starting work at Whitby Seafoods. Shaun absolutely loved his Job. He had so much to talk about when coming in from work. I’m sure they have a tale or two to tell everyone too.
Shaun had so many fabulous times he was so proud when his sister Claire married Paul and adored their two children Ellie & Rhys. They became so special to him He loved kids. Shaun was Ellie’s Godfather and He was so proud to be.
Shaun adored his Holidays abroad but the place he loved most was Los Boliches/Fuengirola in southern Spain. He loved everything about it. It was his home from home. Even the locals took a shine to him. When he went to Spain with his Grandad they were partners in crime. Off they went Grandad pushing him up the seafront to streets we’ve never been to, in and out of bars having many a giggle. They never told us what they got up to just that they’d had a fantastic time.
Shaun Loved Formula One and this became one of his favourite pastimes. along with Football and Leeds United were his team.
He’s also spent a lot of time on his computer over the years. Infact if anyone he knew ever had a problem that had anything to do with the computer or the internet they always rang for him to talk them through what to do.
Mum & Dad have so much to be proud of he was a big part of their life for so many years. They have loved and cared for him and have had the greatest times ever. They have had an incredible journey and would never have changed a thing. Claire his Sister has experienced all of these years of special times too. Shaun was very close to her and she has been a great support to Mum & Dad throughout all of Shaun’s life.
Shaun started to have problems in Mid December and unfortunately gradually became quite poorly. He was just so brave right to the very end.
On a much lighter note which is what Shaun was all about He wouldn’t want everyone moping over his death. He would expect everyone who he knew to remember him for his sense of humour and his caring nature. He really was a very special Young Man.
