About
H.O.B.D (aka Shortbus)
While we may not have been genetically related, when we adopted Daryl, his brother Daryl and his other brother Daryl, Matt and I knew we had found our fishy children.
All three had very distinct and happy personalities. But it soon became apparent that his other brother daryl was different. Special, even. So in despite of his given name, his other brother daryl became lovingly known as Shortbus.
Shortbus entertained everyone that knew him. He was active in the community. He loved to give his time down at the local soup kitchen, helping to feed those in need. He was a strong anti-sushi activist, spending his extra hours lobbying congress for stronger fish rights.
Some of his more famous trademark chants:
"Want me to throw my balls at your head???" (protesting carnival games)
"Why yes, I do live in a glass house!" (multi-purpose)
"Sushi--sushno!" (anti-fish slaughter rights)
Although he was constantly giving of himself to those less fortunate, Shortbus also took time for his friends and family. He often would spend his lazy afternoons playing chess with His Brother Daryl and had an extensive collection of Cuban cigars.
What we will miss most about him is his ability to make us laugh and to make us think. He was an inspiration to everyone who knew him to always accept those around us. He may have viewed the world while on his back, but who is to say that a different point of view is such a bad thing?
Shortbus passed away peacefully in his sleep after fighting a lifelong gas issue. He was proceeded in death by Daryl (2/12/09-2/20/09) and is survived by His Brother Daryl and his parents Mandie and Matt. He has no children that we are aware of. He was laid to rest in a private service. Please, no flower arrangements.
