As your student I discovered just how little I knew- with your guidance and support - I and many others developed and grew. With sincere thanks.

I too was one of Adams' students undertaking a Criminology component as part of Victoria Police Crime Prevention Officers role to train in CPTED(crime prevention through Environmental design). A/Professor Sutton was well respected by all Victoria Police proactive personell who trained and sought knowledge and guidance to "pick his brain" on many mainstream and contraversial topics. He was passionate on CCTV and always had a soft spot for "broken windows" and "Bon Maison" A very knowledgable man with high values and solid integrity. Many facets of community policing can thank Dr Sutton for his imparted knowledge and expertise. I miss your informal "master and apprentice" banter- walking away with just that little bit of thinking to do. I went to contact you again for some expert guidance on a topic and read of your tragic passing. Devistated. Rest in Peace Professor . Heaven will be one hell of a safe, educated place to be around you.

Adam, you were my criminology lecturer in numerous undergraduate subjects at the University of Melbourne. You were a warm, compassionate and kind individual who always treated your students as equals. You were always willing to give people your time. The passion you had for criminology, and people in general, was inspirational. That inspiration and passion rubbed off on everyone you met. My sincerest condolences go out to Adam's close friends and family. Adam, you will be missed and never forgotten.

Adam was loved by his niece, Geneva, her partner, Matthew, and their children, Somaya, Gypsy, Tess, Zelie and Skye. He spent a beautiful few days with us after his first operation. He loved the scenery at Byron Bay and wished he could come back often.

Dad, as I grow older, I cherish even more the memories I have of my childhood, and how much you did for me. You will always be a very important person in my life. So much of the person I am today is due to your influence and guidance. You will always be close, no matter how far away you may be.... Rest In Peace Dad

Adam was one of my criminology lecturers as an undergraduate at Melbourne Uni. He was such an inspiring teacher, mentor and lovely person. I was very fortunate to have him as my supervisor for my honours year in 1993 and later my masters thesis in 2000. I last saw Adam a few years ago. We caught up over coffee and as always he was very encouraging of me to go on to further studies. From time to time I would hear Adam on radio, called on for his expert opinion on various crime related topics. Adam always had such wonderful insights to share and made an incredible contriution to the criminology discipline and his work in the area of crime prevention. I had no idea Adam was ill and news of his passing comes as a big shock and is such very sad news. Adam always spoke so fondly of Alice and Eric. My deepest sympathies to you both and all of the family at this sad time. Adam will be greatly missed.
