I'm SO sorry to hear of Alan's passing!! Alan hired me into Shell Japan back in 2001. We worked very closely together for over a year. He was a great manager and mentor. The other day, his name popped up in some old papers in the attic so I decided to Google him. That is when I was shocked to stumble upon this site and couldn't believe my eyes. About 10 years ago when I saw him last, he was healthy and athletic! What on Earth happened?? Alan was a kind and understanding person who was always willing to take the time to think things through while listening closely to what you had to say. In my 20+ year career, he stands out as being one of my best managers and I am thankful to him for giving me one of my first big breaks. Although very late, I would like to express my deepest sympathy and condolences to Alan's family. I hope you are still able to read this wherever you all are. Sincere Regards, Al Gross

Alan came to Yoga practice at my studio in (Melbourne) St. Kilda West many many years ago. Then he left to work in Japan for many years, so I didn't see him for such a long time. Upon his return to Australia, he returned to practice Yoga at my studio again. He was very committed and had such a lovely giving presence. He was so highly regarded in a room always full of women! When he was unable to attend for periods of illness, I used to send messages back with his daughter Stephanie (who often came to Yoga practice with him) that 'his girlfriends' were asking after him! Although I have been teaching Yoga for some 16 years, and many people have crossed my path, Alan is someone I won't forget... such a caring, gentle and kind soul. These sentiments are also echoed by fellow Yoginis from my studio... Corran & Susan, who attended the same sessions with him for a long time. May you now rest in peace Alan. With great sympathy to Judy and Stephanie, and family. Namaste, Yolanda
