Alethe had more friends than anyone I know. She helped Gwen with our 2 little girls when they sailed for England in 1957; I had gone ahead as a ship's doctor. She also minded our kids when we had a 3 weeks' holiday in Europe, and was so successful that Kathy clung to her rather than go to Gwen when we came home. There were tears then, I can tell you. I was in India in about 1968 and stayed at a Methodist guest house in Bombay. When we introduced ourselves at the table an Indian gentleman's ears pricked up; he knew her. A huge number of Christians in all sorts of places knew her. We had a card from a lady in Adelaide saying Alethe led her to Christ when she was 12. There are on countless others like that.
