As a very insecure migrant I met Alex at a meeting in his office in 1985. He seemed to make a special effort to engage me asking about my background and how I was settling in. His simple acknowledgement of me that day made a big difference to me and I remember it as if it were yesterday. At the time I had no knowledge of Alex's life story and it was only much later after meeting David and Orly that I found out more and was able to personally thank Alex telling him how that simple human act had impacted on me. It is all the small acts of kindness in life that make the difference and I hope I am able to emulate Alex's humble and genuine empathy. Alex made a difference in my life.
