Dad was salt of the earth, true blue, a man’s man with enough tenderness to love his wife, family and friends with an open heart and always a big hug for the ladies. Some of Dad’s legacies include: * Treating your wife with respect, marriage is forever. Although he did not reveal the secret to his long marriage he always referred to Mum as “she who shall be obeyed”. True words of wisdom. * To be a good person, give what you can and live a spiritual life and you will be rewarded in surprising ways. * A love of and respect for cars, from 4WD’s to Ferraris, motorkhanas to Formula 1, overhead cams to mag wheels, I feel guilty sometimes if my cars do not smell of Amoral and Turtle Wax. Dad loved good food and wine and had a passion for Fiats and Steam Trains, The Fiat Car Club For a long time David and I thought we might be Italian, it might have been Dads thick black Mo or the fact Fiats played such a large part of our childhood, we still carry a passion for the marque it is in the blood. Dad first joined the FIAT Club and was the proud owner of a new FIAT 1500. Dad was an active member both on the committee and in competition. He competed in many forms of Car Club motorsport and excelled in motorkhanas. His outright win in the 1st Interstate Motorkhana at Wagga was a standout. He was a very smooth driver, who never really appeared to be trying, but, when the event finished and you checked the stopwatch, his time would be among the best. Dad was a great club member, always cheerful, friendly and enthusiastic, but also humble. 3801 Limited For nearly 20 years Dad volunteered tirelessly on trips with the 3801 and keeping everything looking ship shape in between. Dad has had a passion for steam trains for as long as we can remember, right back to listening to records in the lounge room of trains puffing up long hills somewhere. One memory I will recall is that I got to ride in 3801 before Dad, I went in to the shed to help out and was introduced to the Gary the engineer who was an ex Navy chief stoker so I volunteered to help him rather than polish brass in the carriages, anyway, they had to run 3801 down to the turntable and back up into the shed and I got told to jump in and come for a run, well you should have seen Dad’s face as we steamed past, me all smiles and waving, him with a rag in his hand. The rail preservation movement has lost a great stalwart to the cause. David and I have always been supported and encouraged by Mum and Dad to be anything we wanted, from BMX champions to Water Polo stars, Chefs to sailors, Project Mangers, Moteliers, Farmers, Entrepreneurs and we have always tried to make them proud of our achievements as we have always been proud of them. You can shed tears that he is gone or we can do what he would want, smile, open our eyes, love and go on. Miss you Dad JJP

My memories of Allan..A kind family man who was proud of his sons and grandchildren - He would have gained great comfort in knowing you were all there with him at the end. He was the father and husband of a close family who stand by each other in good times and whom support each other through the not so good times. He enjoyed his little 'Fiat' car, did many interesting things throughout his life, eg; holidays (on the Indian Pacific train), places he visited, father/son trip on HMAS Success, etc. Such a nice man who did not deserve to be inflicted with prostate cancer. Hopefully his passing will help raise awareness of Prostate Cancer between his friends, family and their friends and their families. Maybe this is "the reason" Allan was taken from us too early!! I am glad Allan is at peace and no longer in pain but wish he was still here as the healthy, loving family man he still deserves to be. Allan, you will be greatly missed.
