Berend (Dad) was born in The Netherlands and came to Australia with his wife and two eldest children in 1956. My special memories with him are the sunday afternoon drives which invariably ended up being long trips. On one such trip I can remember driving down the Brown Mountain (the very old road of the late 60's) and my brother pointing out a bird in the trees. We very nearly went over the steep sides into the gully below that day. Often we ended up having to cross the Clyde at Nelligen on the punt and then travelling back home via Queanbeyan, Canberra and Cooma. Jantje
