I went to the 1999 Brnds Hatch BTCC race where he raced alongside Laurent Aiello in the Nissan Primaras. I saw him in the pit lane before the race, smiling and shaking hands. I was only nine at the time and can't really remember a whole lot of it, but I distinctly remember seeing the name 'lesley' flash past infront of me... Good memories. R.I.P David Lesley, you will always be missed.

My favourite memory of David was watching him have an amazing dual with Aiello - Some would say that was the best season so far for the BTCC not only was he an outstanding driver but a true Gent. I recall him signing autographs and being so appreciative of his fans. When I heard of his passing I was very upset and I often recall the joy I felt when leaving a circuit after watching him race. You provided smiles and joy to thousands Rest In Peace

I never knew David but met him once at Snetterton. A perfect gentleman who always had time for the ordinary bloke in the street. I sit here, more than 24 hours after the accident and still I can't believe he has gone. My thoughts are with his family and friends.

David joined our 'novice' Honda BTCC team in '95. He was not only a really nice guy, he was a dedicated professional who gave 100% and could find that 'extra' when it was need to win. He will be sorely missed around the pit lanes and garages wherever touring and sports cars are raced. Condolences to Jane and his sons.
