I had the pleasure of knowing David only recently over the last 4 years or so. He was a lover of art amongst other things and we always had a good chat and laugh when we met regularly at art exhibition opens or around Northcote. David was a true gentleman; a very wise fellow with a wry smile and a passionate curiosity about all things. The world's a little hollower with you Dave. We will miss you brother. I worked at Maroondah Council at the same time as David. We did not work in the same area or even on any substantial projects together. I did not know David well. However, my strong memory of David is a bloke who would always look you in the eye and say hello to you in the corridor and always with a smile on his face. Some days David didn't look like he was travelling too well, but he always had that genuine smile and hello. David will be missed by many at Maroondah.

David always knew his days were numbered. He didnt count them; he just tried to make sure that each one was as good as it could be. He engaged fully with whatever feeling came to him and he lived with authenticity. Never too proud to say he hated his life at that moment, never to distracted to ask how you were, never to busy to stop and help. Always looking for the silver lining, but not through rose coloured glasses. A gentleman and a giver. David you made the world a better place and the imprint you leave on our lives will continue that legacy. Your friend Ruth
