Became friends with Jim (as we in the RAAF knew him) a quite gentle man and was a most professional gentle men. He spent most of his working life around aircraft and quickly taught me that the professional way was the only way to go. We shared many great trips together which will always remain special. Farewell my friend you may have gone but you will never be forgotten. Blue skies and tailwinds Col Tigwell

For nearly 11 years, to us Jim was a good next door neighbour and a good friend. who enjoyed the many "happy hours" we all shared in our street with great friends. His genorosity to us by letting us have the use of his luxury unit on the Sunshine Coast was something we will never forget. Jim loved his food, many of my dishes found there way to his house, much to his delight. We will miss you sorely Jim, happy hour will never be the same. Rest in peace my friend.

Our family was graced by his presence, his honest, sincere, and kind gentle manner. A remarkable man who sat quietly and listened. He spent last Christmas with us and we celebrated a belated birthday for him in April. We rode with him in the Singleton Classic Motorcycle rally in May. Take away the stars, take away the moon, take away all things nice in life for it will be quite some time before we enjoy these wonders again. Fly high up there, for sometime who knows not when, we may just meet again. Gods speed and god bless. All the best old mate for your sadly missed by all and your memories are now to the fore. On one of his many visits with our family here in Canada, uncle Jim told me as a child that I could accompany him on a flight to Hong Kong...I just had to ride in his suitcase. I began sizing up his luggage, packing only a minimal amount of things and doing some light stretches in preparation for my journey. Oh the disappointment when I found out he was only joking. Ten years later, when I was travelling through Oz at the age of 18, Jim took me and my friend under his wing for a while and treated the malnourishment we had suffered from a diet consisting strictly of Kraft macaroni and cheese. I might add that his idea of treatment was a few cold ones and fish and chips which was just fine with me. My life is interlaced with memories of uncle Jim, he was there in my childhood, adolescence and came by freighter to witness my marriage in 2007; I couldn't possibly put into words what the latter meant to me. I have shared all my life's milestones with uncle Jim, and I am deeply saddened with the news of his passing. To all his friends and family, I want to express my most sincere condolences at this time. Rest in peace my beloved uncle. James Heap
