Eric was passionate, funny, trusting and deeply committed to everything that he did. He had a way of making the impossible sound possible and the difficult easy. I worked with Eric at SBS before it went to air 30 years ago and then joined his company Ferryman. Over a nine month period we made 4 productions, all of them different, all of them substantial. He had a big personality, loved a lunch time beer and had an infectious laugh. Most of all, he was passionate about Paddy and his kids. He was my first mentor in the TV biz and I owe him so much. Vale Eric.

In my life I have had the pleasure and privilege in the 70’s of working with Eric on many TV productions for SBS where he was an inaugural producer. He was one of the most professional people I have ever worked with in the industry. He had an amazing attention to detail and honesty and integrity in dealing with everyone in the production team. He had a great work/life balance and knew the importance of working hard but also enjoying himself. I shared many a meal with Eric during the periods of production. The last time I shared a meal with Eric and his lovely wife Paddy was at St Bernard’s at Mt Tamborine in Queensland in the 1990’s. Eric was a true gentleman and will be sadly missed.

Eric had a clear and definite view about everything but, most of all, he was passionate about the film industry and wrote film scripts with great ease and speed. He loved classical movies. He was an outstanding cook in the "very British" style. He barracked for NSW with gusto in every State of Origin. He had a quirky sense of humour and would argue sometimes that black was white just for the stir. But most definitely and obviously, he loved Paddy, his children and grandchildren and shared his house, his wife and his family with an amazing number of people who came to visit them.
