I sailed with Geoff on the vessel M.V. Port Adelaide in 1968. He was Chief Engineer and I was Senior Fourth Engineer. He was a very understanding person and somewhat unusual in his quiet and reserved manner, not usual for Marine Engineer at that time. There was an incident in the enginroom, just a few days from arrival in Auckland after a month long voyage that I will never forget . In the early 1980's I met Geoff during the course of business onboard BP ships in Kwinna, WA. I always intended to 'catch up' with him for a yarn and a wee drink, but, I guess I've missed that opportunity, unfortunately. The passing of a loved one is always difficult to handle for those remaining. My sincere sympathy is for those whom Geoff loved. He was a quiet achiever, a flickering flame that has been extinguished and above all a true Human Being. It was indeed a privilege and an honour to have known Geoffrey Shepherd.
Running with Geoff and the Hash House Harriers at D&E. Geoff (Shipwreck) was a true hashman, always enthusiastic for the run and an "all round good fellow". He enjoyed the company of fellow enthusiasts and wittingly contributed to the repartee. He shared his passion for fine motor vehicles with a few of us and always enjoyed a cold beer after the run. ON - ON Geoff, find trail in another place. Sympathy to Moira and family. Barry (Bandung).
