Sorry to hear that you are gone. Like Kenny you'll be missed by us that knew you. We will always remember Mikell's, 7th Ave South and the NY hang. It hurts that you are gone. Bye.

I had the opportunity to interview Hiram Bullock for a German magazine many years ago. He was a pleasure to share time with. We had him at Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola a couple of years ago as the headlining guitarist for the Eddie Durham Festival. Just this past weekend I was playing an old aircheck from a radio show I did on WPKN (Bridgeport, CT) with my son - who was 8 at the time. Suddenly, subtly, slowly the background music slipped into Hiram playing "Hey Prudence." I hadn't heard the news yet. Listen to that song. Love and prayers to Hiram's family and friends. - Thompson

hiram came into my gig about 10 yrs ago sat down beside me grabbed an acoustic guitar and proceeded to play one of the most out there, wild but brilliant funk grooves i have ever heard & we jammed for about 20 mins.it was daunting for me at the time but i did my best and kept up with him.he seemed to dig it.so i took that...he was a legendary character and although we never got to know each other too well..i will always remember him and his musical gift.it was brilliant!!....bless you brother..be in peace..Benny

I just got home from work and heard on NPR that he transitioned and I felt it inside as if I lost a family member. I first heard his music on the touchdown lp I was 15 years old then and now I am 45, unfortunately I never saw him perform in person but once I saw he was down with 4 of my all time favorite performers It felt kinda cool knowing that Bob James, David Letterman, David Sanborn and Marcus Miller thought as highly of his talent and skills as I did-he will be missed greatly!!!

I had the pleasure of seeing Hiram at The IMAC Theatre in 1987, the place was never the same afterwards. He jumped off the stage numerous times during his 2 hour show running up and down the aisles of the theatre during solos, improvising as he went along. Hiram was just a pleasure to see , truly one of a kind. My condolences to his family and friends. Paul Richards

I read about Hiram's Death today and was really shocked. I visited about ten of his concerts and was involved in the organisation of three concerts here in Münster (Germany) at the Hot Jazz Club. It was great to meet Hiram and it was also great to see, how he always rocked his audience. When he left our club after another great show in November last year, he said "See you next year!" We will miss really miss him! Rest in peace, Hiram Bullock!

I first heard Hiram play at Seventh Ave South in NYC and was awe-struck by his inate abilty to build a solo to a climax in what seemed like the most economical use of time and space! He always delivered a ride that had you on the edge of your seat and it was packed with emotion. Anthony Jackson kept looking at him like "what?.. are you crazy...this is off the hook!". Another time he followed a Mike Brecker extravaganza solo with a quick "one-two" punch and had the audience screaming! wow! Hiram you were fun! Tom Cohen (drummer)
