My mother meant everything to me, absolutely everything. I am so lost without her, I have tried to join her in heaven multiple times but I take my failures as a sign that she isn't ready for me yet. I love you forever angel, lion of god.
When I think about Jackie I picture her on the Mersey River. Her slalom kayak was tough and sturdy, ready for combat against the rocks and logs in the water. No matter what crossed her path, Jackie always fought to move forward. Those clear, intelligent blue eyes remain in my memory. Annie, my thoughts are with you. Kate Mollison
Jackie was such an enormous influence on me and my family. She was always making "suggestions" about the things we should do. She encouraged me to attend The Lake School in Koroit working on my flute and gave Amelia the lend on her budrum to learn. She took us hiking along the razor back in the highlands. Actually an amazing story about that couple of days was Jackie had an expensive pair of Scarpa hiking boots that were old but never a pair she particularly liked. While on the hike they blistered her feet terribly. In absolute frustration she threw the boots over the edge of the mountain and proceded to finish the hike - bootless!!! My goodness that women had guts. We've got ourselved a GPS to go geocaching after hearing all her stories. So many fun things she was always suggesting. Jackie was very encouraging of our Amelia with her plans to go to ADFA - just what a young women needed was another gutsy women pushing her on. She will be influencing our family for many years.
Jackie was a good friend who inspired us with her energy and enthusiasm. She was a dedicated canoeing coach who encouraged others to get involved in that sport. There are many Tasmanian canoeists who have benefited from Jackie's support. She faced her illness with courage and we are very sad to hear of her passing. Our thoughts are with Annie & family. Alli Shields I will wear her old polo top with pride.
