Marshall Texas

We hope that the widow Mrs. Burns gets the Justice she deserves by suing Cherokee County Texas for Wrongful Death of her husband for delibertately letting a parole violator post bond. They are in all of our thoughts and prayers, throughout the State. We will donate tens of thousands to a Plantiff Fund if after her immediate grief, she seeks to file a lawsuit and bring those responsible for Trooper Burns' homicide in front of Federal Trial Jury.

Trooper Burns, Scott as I called him, and I worked together, although he was stationed in Jefferson, he was assigned to the Marshall office where I am stationed. He was a dedicated servant and was very passionate about his work. I'm still struggling with the loss but I know Scott died doing something he loved and that was keeping the public safe and for that I will always be grateful and thank God for allowing our paths to cross. He was junior to me in age as well as service, but as I tell people who ask me did I know him, after telling them yes I follow it up by also saying there's people you often come across and have nothing bad to say about them and Scott was that type of person. I'll miss you Scott, rest in peace my follow warrior and enjoy your reward in heaven and myself as well as your fellow office mates and co-workers will pray and see after your family. We still have your back my brother.

This is a hard one since I was not close to nor did I know Trooper Burns. Though I feel that I have lost someone very close to me. I am married to a Trooper and feel like Scott Burns was part of my Family and I will always remember and miss him dearly. My heart goes out to his family, his wife and baby girl. They will always have a place in my heart and in my prayers. I know God had a special place for him already made in heaven and he is in such a better place, But it is a great shame that he had to leave to tragically and so soon in his life. But God has a plan for us all and though it is not always what we want or could possibly imagine, we are only here for the time God allows. From what I heard he was a great guy and touched many lives in his 39 years on this earth. I suppose he accomplished everything God put him here to do. I say to his family: Be strong he is watching over you and will see his baby girl grow to become a beautiful women and will oneday reunite with you all. Be Strong and Pray! I will be!

Scott Iam going to miss you so much. I am going to miss how you would make fun of me and Trever Whatley because I killed a bigger buck than him in the 2007 Youth Buck Pot, and all of the other times you made fun of me. Just please keep us all safe and try to help us make the right choices in life. PLEASE look out for your famliy especially Mrs. Judy, Mr. Ronnie, Kelsey, Blake, your wife, your brothers, thier wives, and everyone else that knew you better than just a DPS Officer. May you Rest In Peace, and have a great life up there in heaven for me please. Just PLEASE make me one promise, when you stop someone up there in heaven, MAKE SURE that your zipper is zipped!! Love always and forever. Kateland Smith

Scott and I played baseball at Ouachita Baptist University together. He was always a geniune guy. Always the same every time you saw him. When Jason Harris told me of his death I was extremely saddened. Each time I talked to anyone in the Linden area I always asked how "Beaty" was doing. My memories of him playing baseball are ones I will never forget. He loved to play baseball and he loved to laugh and have a good time. My heart goes out to his family and to his grieving wife and young daughter. I just want you to know that me and my family are praying for all of your family.

Beaty was always there for you. You never questioned if he had your back. He would also put yoy in your place if you needed it. I loved that about him. We had some good time on the OBU baseball trips. What a great loss to all of us. I pray for his family everyday. His family now has a great guardian angel.
