Jan was the Head Librarian at Newington College during my years at school. Jan's imparted her knowledge and passion for education on all boys with her superb wit, understanding, fairness and availability for any questioning mind. Jan was also a very important supporter of the arts, through music and drama at The College. Jan was involved in every production, to the best of my knowledge she had the most important role of Stage Manager, lucky Tony Rae's not around to dispute that one and of course with absolute deference to Dr Elizabeth Swain. Not only was I lucky enough to have had Jan as part of my years at Newington but all of her children as well. Andrew and I shared the same high school years and involvement in the arts, whilst Gavin, two years younger, it was shared interests in cadets and the arts. Fiona participated in all inter school music performances. The one thing that I most remember is that the family Morrison are highly intellectual and talented individuals at all endeavours they put their hands and minds. Since leaving school I have often reflected on my days there as well the formidable members of staff that were my teachers and carers. These wonderful women and men imparted more than wisdom but examples of how to be a most decent human being. Jan will always be in my heart and mind for the wonderful gifts given to me and I know all boys that had the privilege of passing through her hands. I am sadden that Jan had to suffer in her later years. The burden on Jan's family, living that journey with her, I am sorry.
