I met Jan in 1954. Jan, Fred VanderWorp and I decided at that time to leave The Netherlands and emigrate to Australia. From the moment I met Jan I knew that I had met a man of principle who followed his convictions as a Christian without fail. Jan remained a true friend until the end of his wonderful life whose example was of great value to me personally. He deeply loved his family. Jan's contribution to and influence on Australian society, for example in the areas of family life, church work, visiting people in old folks homes and as a medical scientist have been exemplary. I am looking forward to meeting him again soon in the company of the altogether lovely Saviour, Jesus Christ, in the earth made new. Bob Pannekoek
