I always felt uplifted when I saw Suman's (Joannes's) sweet smiling face when I walked in the door. Her gentle, steady nature had a calming effect on those around her. Joanne was a much loved member of the Siddha Yoga community in Melbourne where I knew her by her spiritual name of Suman. I have such fond memories of Suman's gentle and sweet presence and the poise and grace in which she played the Indian stringed instrument, the tamboura.
