John was a great inspiration to many young Australians and a dedicated guide to newcomers in the industry. John... A truley genuine kind and incredibly funny man. Can never even picture John without a camera at arms length! With many of videos with us kids on the house boat, Kate (pud) and myself making cookery programmes (kate being the true presenter!) And of course, offering us a borroca on new years eve after 1 or two alco-pops at the age of about 11! Every tine I think of him, and see his face in pictures I cant help but smile. So sad to hear the news about John.. I was at his table at the Cooke Dinner in Vegas on the 13/04/2011. I heard the news in New York and lit a candle for his memory in St Patricks...and Cried !! I have many happy memories with John at US and European trade shows. My father Trevor new him much better than me from the Eclair / Aaton days and introduced me to such a happy fun loving and dedicated cinematographer.
