John was such a great man. He was almost like a father to me through my High School years. He and his family welcomed me with open arms and he always knew how to make someone laugh when they were feeling down and out. John, no one will ever be like you and you will be missed by so many people because you were such a wonderful man, caring father, and the sun in the sky when everything seemed blue. Thanks for the big hugs.

John and I grew up together, he was more like a cousin than an uncle. More like a best friend. There are so many memories of staying overnight for a week or two at a time during the summers. John and I could talk about those times any time, and still laugh at those special moments, that made us laugh when we were kids. Those memories are intertwined with two of the most memorable people in our lives, Grandma Pietkiewicz and Grandpa Chuck, John's mom & dad. John and I could talk and laugh about all those stories of grandma and grandpa any time we talked. John was the kind of person that you could do that with. He could always make you happy. He enjoyed life. I miss playing cards with John, playing golf with John, laughing with John, sitting in the back yard with John. I will always remember so many fun times with him.

I have so many happy memories with him.....family trips....playing board games on Saturday nights....shopping for my first car..... he took my friends and I to the Rush concert.... Christmas mornings.... golf.....he use to pick me up from school every day......dancing on my wedding day......calling him to bring me my keys after I locked them in the car while the it was in the car wash bay......he always told jokes really well.....just to tell a few. I miss him already and am very blessed to have had such a wonderful stepfather. He was a great dad when he didn't have to be.

I am totally blown away.. Uncle John was the epitame of life - He had a huge heart as well as stature. He gave me a chance to get my life in order when I needed to with a place to stay with him and my Aunt Diane and Matthew. I will miss him with all my heart...Bryan

How do you describe in words a person that has touched so many lives on so many levels for the better. His kindness, acceptance, love, friendship and Absolute zest for living life to the fullest with all of us as a group and individually will never be forgotten and truly missed by me. If I only had a few words to describe my friend, I would have to say: The Only Thing Bigger than John was His Heart. May God Bless You and Keep Always, my Brother.

There is not just one memory that stands out, but several that I will think of when I remember my father-in-law. I remember... ...traveling to California, riding in the back seat with John and Matt, being a "Fraggle", ...him taking our first family Christmas photo and saying, "This will be our tradition", ...watching "Survivor" every Thursday night, ...before leaving our house, Ethan having to rub cheeks with Grandpa's whiskers, ...after leaving our house, John calling to let us know he forgot his meds in our fridge, again, ...our shared love of cheesy potatoes and everything garlic, ...going to the Renaissance Festival, ...playing cards (screw your neighbor), ...all the pictures he took of our own precious memories, ...the stories he told over and over again of the happy and funny times, ...reaching up to give him a hug good-bye. I will miss John.

I learned so much from him that I can not summarize. He was not only my father but one of my closest friends. His passing came way too soon. Dad, I will miss you.
