Pop was such a unique person. Everything he did was different. He would take us for Sunday drives with this picnic set he had, that was no ordinary picnic set. It looked like a brief case and had 14kt gold rimmed china inside. It was all the same to him. He would pack it full of goodies for us and we would be off for the day. I remember the first time I ever heard of partridge berries, he took me out berry picking, just me and him. He wouldn't leave town without making my lunch complete, so he stopped into Clar Jane's Ultramar to get me a pepsi. I didn't even ask him, he just did things to make everything perfect for me. We went berry picking, and he had such a way about him, of making everything an experience. He told me that berries were what people had to live off of hundreds of years ago, and what we were doing were like what the natives of Newfoundland would have done. He just made everything seem special and important. He listened to me as a child. He was the only person I remember really talking to. I would get up with him in the morning, we were always the first up, and we would talk...whether if I was 3 or 23, we could always talk about things that other people might not find interesting. I think that was his gift, making things special. Every occasion, every thing he did, even just having him around was always special. He always had such a presence, a way of making things great, whether if he was the centre of attention or just smiling in the corner. Miss you so much Pop...wishing I could put my arms around you. Love you forever.

This is a pic of Pop playing a song to me that he made up when I graduated university, he spent weeks putting words together and sang it to me in front of everyone at my party...it was so sweet I couldn't help but cry. He was so thoughtful and did such special things for me, I will never forget those things Pop, thank you for all of your love.

Heidi would visit Pop and sing songs for him, his face would light up and he would start clapping his hands saying "she should be on the CBC!"....always so encouraging....good memories
