i watched the film "Lorenzo Oil," gain tonight, and saw it years ago. I have a schizo type disorder, and you have to understand that the symbols and science used in the film inspired me to fight my desease and helped me to be more determined to live, the families courage to fight for their son and nick noltes paper clip scene, caused me to research medicine and my desease, in many different ways, along with faith and determination, and using a system of change of thoughts, and hope, and love, i have been able to recover off and on for years. Lorenzo's story was a paradox to me for years, to believe the impossible no matter what the outcome. his story is a parable of faith that stretches across any type of suffering and isa testimony of how small miracles can change the minds of those who dont believe that things can change in this world. "With God all things are possible, and all things work together for good to those who love him." Romans paraphrased

I am a metabolic therapist, that overcame liver cancer, diabetes, polycythemia and related metabolic disorders utilizing metabolic science. I began Dr. Kelley's therapy in 1985 and have dedicated my life to this science. . In 1992 I saw Lorenzo's Oil and was elated to see that an individual had also dedicated his life to finding an answer to his son's genetic metabolic disorder. We also are about to start filming of my story. Thanks so much for your inspiration and Lorenzo's fortitude in this battle. I will forever keep your story and your son in my heart and prayers. I remember seeing this movie more than 10 years ago during one of our Biochemistry class in UST (Philippines). I then remembered how smart and courageous the parents were in finding the cure for their late sons disease. Moreover how the study of biochemistry made a mark in history up till today. Now, just a few mins back, i had the chance to watch the movie all over again. There were scenes where tears just suddenly flowed my eyes. The love of their parents are undying, and the tenacity of finding the cure and being in their sons bedside almost all his life showed how love can be unconditional. I believe that God has a purpose for everything. The circumstances that the Odone's have endured certainly served its purpose. They were able to help thousands of kids suffering from such rare disease. Thank you so much as this story made us realize that everything happens for a reason and to never lose hope and to always think beyond our capabilities even more the impossibility. My sincere condolences and gratitude to the Odone family. God bless you all Pearl

I am a Filipino doctor living in my country. I have heard about the movie, Lorenzo's Oil, before but never got around to watching it. I stumbled upon a DVD of the movie recently and watched it for the first time a few hours ago. I was so moved by the perseverance of Augusto & Michaela Odone, and I admire their passion in finding a cure for their son. Knowing that the movie was made 17 years ago, I decided to research the internet to see what had happened to the family and especially, to Lorenzo. It saddens me now to discover that both Michaela & Lorenzo have passed on, leaving us their legacy--- that anything is possible, as long as we believe in it, in ourselves. There should be more people like Augusto & Michaela, who have paved the way for research, new knowledge and hope. My late, yet deep sympathy to the Odone Family. You will be included in my prayers. Merry Christmas. From, Bernice

I just watched Lorenzo Odone's movie Lorenzo's Oil Nov. 3-5,09 in Anatomy class. Before I never heard of adrenoleukodystrophy(ALD), and never knew about Lorenzo or his family. I'd came home and felt something inside to research this and I did, I felt & did cry about this tragic story, I know I'm a year and some months to late but I understand these people and felt their motivation pain. I just want people to know life, no matter who's life, is precious not matter the condition of the 'bright life'.

i watched the movie the other night; and my conclusion is, that your love and support gave your son the power to live as long as he did. We need more parents in the world to show their strength and tenacity to do what it takes to save their child, no matter the medical case. Its incredible how your love and feelings can move the world with such a true story. It's essencial to fight for somebody that you love and for more that seems impossible to never give up. You are the heroes (Mr. & Mrs. Odone) and an example to all!! Thank you so much for allowing Hollywood to make a film that showed your courage and strength to tell the story of your son. I'm sorry for your son's recent death, however, through him the cure to touch those who have the beginning of the disease will prevent many other deaths. In closing, my name is Gisele Cristiane. I am from Brasil and I felt compassion to write the two of you to express my heart felt love for your son and his battle of this terrible disease. I do apologize for my english, as I am still learning language. My husband has helped me with my grammar and spelling. God bless you, my sincerely feelings .....................

Amazing........that's the word that comes to mind when I think of this family. I saw Lorenzo's Oil just last week for the first time and I was amazed at the dedication of his parents as they were finding the "key" to his recovery. The Odone family is an inspiration to all. I was sad to discover that Lorenzo passed away last year and his mother before him. God Bless you and comfort you, Mr. Odone. AMAZING.................

I have seen the movie of your story many times, it was filmed near my home town, I know the house it was filmed at. That always sparked my interest. Every time I have watched this movie my heart breaks with sadness, and also with joy for the love that you all shared. I got online to follow up to see what I could find out after seening the movie today. When I read that Lorenzo had passed as well as Mrs. Odone my heart broke. Then I realized they are together running, laughing, reading to each other and feeling the wind. God bless you and your family and all the wonderfull things you have done. You all are remarkeable! k in Pennsylvania

One of my daughters name is Michaela and toy see her name spelled the same way always stuck in my mind. To the passing of her as well is very sad and to hear that Lorenzo Michael Murphy Odone is with his mother and his maker lets me know he is happy now as he was to live. My heart goes out to his Father , and all his loved ones. I am sure he was a wonderful son and will be missed very much. I couldn't sleep so turned on tv and there was the movie "Lorenzo's Oil". I had seen it years ago. This time I saw it much differently. What a great set of parents he had. I googled The Odone family this morning in hopes of a happy ending and found out he went to be with God and his mother. I was sad for his father. God bless you and your family. I just have seen the movie about you, Lorenzo... it finished ten minutes ago... your story was so special to me and I imminently started google your name in a hope that i will see some good news, something like ``Lorenzo is now healthy, lives and works in ....`` as a happy end, but... unfortunately, there is no happy ending in this world... anyway, I hope you know, you were very lucky with all that love what you have got from your parents, your aunt and your African friend ... blessings, T.

I recently saw the movie in my biology class and when my teacher said the title i was thinking it was going to be on nature so I really was all that intrested and then when she told us what it was about it kind of made me have all these thoughts runnning through my mind like how am i goign to react. And it was really sad and to actually know it was a true story and to know what he went through. I really honor him for how strong he stayed. And to know that he recently died its really sad. And as i was watching the movie i think about how his parents had to go through that pain of knowing their son was sick every single day and there wasn't going to be much of a chance for him to get better. I will always remember the movie and him and think about him. I honor him sooo much that he stayed sooo strong and i will always miss him and think of him when I think i am not lucky or if i just have a sore throat I will say to myself to not complain because Lorenzo and i am sure many other little kids have it a lot worse than i do I will always rememeber Lorenzo LOve Sarah

I woke up this morning to the t.v being on and Lorenzo's oil the movie was on. I had watched that movie many times, but now being older my emotion's were running wild. From sadness, joy, frustration, and admiration for his parents and other family memebers and friends. I decided to get on the net and see how Lorenzo and his family were doing today, I was truly sad to see that Lorenzo and his mother have passed, but not in vain. I myself am not a mother, but if I evedr do become a parent I hope that I could have @ least half the strength the Odone's have had. Their work has saved many children's lives. Even when the world told them ( NO!) they kept fighting for their son @ any cost. Mr. Odone, I know you will never read this but if by chance I just want to tell you that I believe that you and your wife are a inspiration to everyone. Your son lives on through the other children who you have saved. Many blessing to you and your family. Lorenzo, and your wife will never be forgotten and either will you. May god rest there souls, and lift you up Mr. Odone.

When our teacher said that we will be watching a movie entitled "Lorenzo's Oil"., I thought it would be a purely science movie. But I was overwhelmed when we already watch it because it makes me cry and it makes me realize that in life our parents are the most loving people ever exist . I know that I'm not the only one who was inspired by the story of Lorenzo...Thanks Lorenzo..

Lorenzo touched my life in a very personal way. The first time I saw Lorenzo's Oil, was when my 2 year old son was diagnosed as being hypomyelinated. Although my son isn't diagnosed with such a "progressive disease", he shares most all of the same traits with his neurological disorder. Lorenzo's movie had to educate me on what was in store for my son's future, and also the realization that Doctors, still to this day, do not have all the answers in the medical field with these neurological conditions. We still don't have all our answers, and Connor is now 7. I watched in amazement at the strength, courage, and tenansity that Lorenzo's parents endoured for their son. They endoured it out of the greatest love they could have for their own child, and still fought with unselfishness for the community of other parents and children also affected with this horable disease. I was personally touched and could relate to their mourning. Having a child like Lorenzo, you mourn everyday for the loss that he will not have a normal childhood and life. I could feel Lorenzo's familys pain. I truely believe that people are placed on earth for much greater purposes then we will ever realize. What the Odones took on and endured for their son, has affected thousands of children affected with this disease everyday. They are truely special people. They found an answer and fought for it. God Bless you Lorenzo! Your with your mother now at peace. God Bless you Mr. Odone. Your work on this earth will never be forgotten. Sincerely, The O"Keefe's - Gibsonton, Fl.

I saw the title several times on my Satelite menu, and always brushed it off as a movie about some oil well. I was blown away when I watched the movie on Monday, and the story has haunted me ever since. The strength of the family and their faith in each other and in Lorenzo was amazing. I grieve for all parents who have lost a loved one to this disease, and pray that there will be a cure so that all of these biys and men will live a long happy and healty life, one that we enjoy but take for granted. Lorenzo, The angels have led you into paradise, you are at peace, you are safe, you are home.

I still think of the courage and spirit it took for the parents to take on the medical community. What a blessing and inspiration their little boy was to them and to the world. I still love the ending of the film when all those boys come on and show how active and full their lives are due to this family. I am saddened at the passing of Lorenzo, but am also in awe of his life and how many others he touched.

I remember when I was in the eighth grade my teacher at the time, please forgive me but I forgot his name, made every class in every one of his periods watch " Lorenzo's Oil". I had never seen a movie like that and it touched me, even as a thirteen year old black male. It was teachers like that that opened my mind up to new horizons and become more cultured. As I look back to 1993 when I first watched this film and when I watched today I can see the stress and burden more now that Lorenzo's parents faced but did not mind enduring to keep their son alive as long as he wanted to live until he was called home. I admired the courage of Mrs. Odone especially because she was a woman that was strong like my mother and able to still make every rational decision to help her husband stay on the same level and not give up, ever. I do salute, not only Lorenzo, but also his parents and everyone who was involved in the research for new medicines for this disease and most of all the Most High, and Grand Creator for giving the knowledge to some day cure this disease.

And........what wonderful parents you had. Their determination, faith, and love, God Bless them. Today I also learned of your passing, now you are strong, completely healed and reunited with your loving Mother. Watch over your Father until you are all together again. I'm sure he misses you both very much. God Love You. RitaRose

Oh, my ... I had no idea until now of the passing of Lorenzo, such a brave young man. My heart aches with you all during this time. And as others have said, Lorenzo outlived the odds against him, and that really gives me courage to keep going on. My prayers are with the family during this time of mourning.
