Malcolm Taylor, David Greenall and their firm Green, Taylor & Greenall (GTG), played a major role in my life and the history of computing for the Accountancy Profession. The first ever installation of HAPAS (HArtley Professional Accounting System) was for GTG in 1974. I remember camping out on the floor of the GTG offices for days while completing the installation and still madly trying to finish the software! Malcolm provided meals and encouragement in spades, plus showers and the occasional bed at his home. HAPAS went on to be used by thousands of Accountancy practices around the world, and to be the grandfather of many of the systems in use today. But it all started with GTG and Malcolm. So I remember Malcolm (and David) with great fondness, appreciation for their courage in taking the leap into the dark with my then unknown software, and with thanks for the friendship and support shown over the years since. Malcolm was a most progressive Accountant who helped not only his clients but the Profession as a whole, whilst also being a gregarious, great guy personally. Thank you Malcolm. May your legacy endure. I do expect that it will, because I feel sure that you touched many other lives positively as you so greatly did mine. David
