Dear Anne and family, Although I didn't really get to know you personally, as a good friend and university colleague of Manuel's for nearly 40 years, he told me much about you all and how proud he was of his sons and their achievements. I too share your grief and your loss. I have many fond memories of Manuel and I too will miss him very much. He was a truly good man who touched our hearts. I am sorry I will not be able to pay my respects by attending his funeral service, but I am currently out of the country.

Dear Anne and family, I share your grief on Manuel's passing. He was very dear to me and to my mother, Rose. I looked forward to his infrequent phone calls. We caught up with all the family news and talked for over an hour at a time. He was too modest and never realized how much he had achieved and how valued he was to the people he knew.
