For more than 20 years I (Richard Luke) enjoyed a productive and loving friendship with Michael. He was the conceptual engineer and I was the trained journalist who collaborated to publish the book The Integrity Factor. The book was nearly all of Mike's work, in terms of content and opinion. It enabled me to understand why Mike focused on getting the right church structure, including the eldership system, and why in his view hierarchies don't bring out the best in congregations. In 1995 and 1996 Mike and I were part of a nucleus group called the Philippians 4:8 Fellowship, which soon became known as the P4:8 club and was considered a daring initiative in our church the Worldwide Church of God (WCG). This fellowship inspired our involvement in a number of home fellowships and bible studies. For 12 years we shared a Thursday lunch table at Wesley Mission, where we invited people to join us and was renown for its lively discussions.
