I knew Mike as a work colleague. He was easy to work with and always approached work in a calm and professional manner. He was plain spoken and respected other people's view. He had integrity and principle. I remember when several months before he passed, he had an accident with a trail bike and was hobbling around with an injured leg. He had a scheduled training session in my office then in Sydney and travelled in spite of it. He was in pain but soldiered on. He later told me that he actually had a broken leg and had been walking around in it for a week! That's dedication. When I left that organisation, he was the only colleague in the Canberra office who had a word of encouragement and praise for me which I will remember and cherish always. Rest in peace, mate.
