If an award was to be given to a truely inspiring, classy, and profoundly humble human being, souch an award would undoubtedly go to Mikey Dread. I met and knew Mikey over 30 years, in ja, Uk and S. Fla. He has grown, yet remain the same man. He epitomized greatness in many facets of his life. You Contributed so much to humanity, yet you asked for so little.

I met Mikey in the streets of Soho New York in the late eighties and took an instant liking to him. I remember joking with him and having great laughs. Subsequently, he invited me to come listen to him in the recording studios. He even had me do a voice over on one of his albums. It was a blast. I had not seen him in years, since the nineties, but occasionally he would send hellos to me with his friend and fellow artist Screwdriver --especially after he discovered I had been ill. I am so sorry that such a gentle person has left us so soon. I know his family and all those who loved him has lost a friend. GOODBYE MY FRIEND.

Mikey had a special light in his eyes and smile and was a beautiful, kind person. I am grateful we became friends. I am shocked that he is gone so soon and saddened that I will never see him again but will forever remember him. I will hold fond memories every time I hear his sweet voice. I love you Mikey.

I saw Mikey Dread perform in North Adams, MA in 2003. His energy was positive and he was almost humble to autograph a CD, and had a marker/pen in his pocket to effectively sign on ythe glossy stock of the CD paper insert. I thought then that he was a truly genuine person. Funny thing, I listened to that CD 2 weeks ago and it was as fresh, robust and true as the first time. Thank you, Mr. Campbell for the honor and may your spirit be free. Maria
