Growing up, I recall the laid-back welcome always on offer at the Mutimer home; watching North Melbourne on the tele with Pat and Helen eating as many shortbreads as I could dream of, from the substantial biscuit collection given to Pat by her scores of friends. I remember Pat's steady presence and accepting outlook. Pat's respect for a talented lace-making friend gave life to the remarkableness of older people. I remember Pat's voice. And I remember the daily phone call from a friend living alone, to let Pat know that she had made it through the night, so she need not worry. A strong, enduring lady. Thanks, Goose, for enabling so much. Fare Well

Growing up, I recall the laid-back welcome always on offer at the Mutimer house; Friday nights watching North Melbourne on the tele with Pat and Helen, eating as many shortbreads as I could want, from the substantial biscuit collection given to Pat by her scores of friends. I remember Pat's accepting outlook and steady presence, and I remember her voice. Pat's respect for a lace-making friend gave life to the remarkableness of older people. And I remember the early morning call to her house each day, from a friend living alone, to let Pat know that she had made it through the night, so that Pat need not worry. Thanks for all this, Goose, and Fare Well.

Growing up, I recall the laid-back welcome always on offer at the Mutimer place: the chilled-out Friday or Saturday nights, watching North Melbourne on the tele with Pat and Helen; eating as many of the shortbread biscuits as I would like, from the considerable collection Pat had amassed as gifts from her scores of friends. I remember her accepting outlook and her steady presence, and her voice. Pat's respect for a talented lace-maker gave life to the remarkableness of old people. And I remember the phone ringing every morning - a sign from one of her friends, to let Pat know that the friend had made it through the night so Pat need not worry. Thanks Goose, for all this. Farewell.
