We too were deeply moved by Richards performance of the Barber concerto. In the second movement I was moved to tears because he played it with heart and soul. I think we will remember his performance forever. Then we found out what happened. He will live forever in our hearts. To his parents .We are thinking of you. Please accept our deepest sympathy. Our hearts go out to you. There are no words to express it.He lives on in his music.

By chance we heard Richard's brilliant performance of the Barber violin concerto on the car radio. It will live on in our memories. Our hearts go out to Philip and Patricia.

I play the violin in the York Symphony Orchestra in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. As we are rehearsing the Barber Violin Concerto, I searched youtube for a performance to help me learn my part. I was mesmerized by Richard's performance and have listened to it many times. After enjoying his beautiful interpretation and appreciating his help in my practicing, I then read the tragic news and was absolutely shocked. What a loss to the world! The only consolation is that his music lives on and I am certain will move people for many many more years.

I just came across Richard's playing online. I wondered who this young genius was and after a quick search, was shocked to learn of your loss. And mine. To his family and friends, my deepest sympathies. Cold comfort, but it is a great joy to be able to listen to him play and I am grateful for that gift.

When we watched Richard Pollett play the Barber in 2010 as a finalist in the YPA, we all agreed that he shone. We were excited! The music arrived to us through an honesty and freshness that belongs to youth and his love, passion and deep and humble regard for his art was how he made this performance so compelling and memorable. I remember not only music but what the best of youth can be. That's all I know of RIchard Pollett, except that, when Oliver She was announced as the winner, Richard was the first to extend his hand to the bewildered pianist and give him a warm and genuine congratulations. What a great loss. I send my heart felt condolences to Richards friends and family.

I first met Richard when he was playing in the YPA finals in 2007. What struck me about him was his complete musicianship. Often we take years to get to a place where Richard had already arrived, and still such a young man. His beautiful playing, his integrity, his wisdom were all things that shone through that night and again when he played in 2010. Richard's death has deeply shocked me and everybody here at ABC Classic FM. We all send our most profound condolences to Richard's friends and family.
