You helped me become the teacher I am today. You have inspired and will continue to inspire students every year at Indoles. Thank you for your love and kind heart.
I didn't know this young woman, but some news reports say she would not have been tall enough to climb that tower and jump. It sounds like she had something on her mind, but that doesn't mean she wanted to kill herself.
I had a couple classes with Rylan at James Madison.. She always brightened up the room and made people laugh. I loved sitting next to her because I knew it'd make the class go by faster :-) She's a special person.. Very down to earth, that's what I noticed right away about her. She made everyone around her feel comfortable because she was so genuine and kind.. I'll always remember her smiling.
Rylan, you are in our thoughts and prayers every single day.
We will continue to seek the truth, leaving no stone unturned.
Some are with us for a long time and some you only get to wish were with you for a long time! Rylan was loved and will never be forgotten by those in her life. They will never stop searching for the truth, for the reason that they lost her in such a sudden and brutal way! Some one, some where, knows something!! PLEASE do the right thing and call the police, give Rylan's family and friends the closure of knowing why someone would do this and being able to see justice done. Rest in peace Rylan
I remember their first encounter....and remember witnessing the exact moment their lives became entwined. My son was just shy of his 2nd birthday...Rylan was celebrating her 13th. Through various circumstances, she ended up at our pool that evening and decided to imbibe in a little swim. My son, Jaden, who you could describe as shy at best, couldn't resist the opportunity to join her. It wasn't the warmest June evening....but those two took on the cold swim with a vengence. It was during this swim that the magical moment occured. It was nothing more than a glance between them, but if you caught it...you could see it....almost HEAR it click.
Needless to say, they became almost inseparable. She became his baby-sitter, his psuedo-big sister, his teacher and his mentor. The feeling was obviously mutual....as you would swear by the stories Rylan told, the relationship was more than just that of a baby-sitter and her charge. Pictures of Jaden hung in Rylan's locker at school and she told stories of him constantly. There was no one in her life that didn't know of Jaden's exsistence or his newest accomplishment. Because of this "connection"...my husband and I got to know Rylan (Ry as she was called) better, as well. She became our "adopted daughter". Bright, witty, charming, funny and dependable....always there when you needed her....and even when you didn't! A true light in our lives!
Rylan, on the eve of your "anniversary", you are sooo missed, and still so loved. You will always hold a very special place in all our lives, and just know that Jaden has been forever touched by your time with him. You two were meant for each other......."Two Peas in a Pod"... if ever there were.
Fly high and fly free Ry!

I didn't know Rylan, but I've met her mothers good friend, Jeannene. Thru Jeannene, I've come to know how well loved Rylan is, and she will be deeply missed.
To Rylan's mother, family & friends.
